  • 1950s

It all started in a small town in the north of Italy – Tione di Trento – in the 1950s.

Adelmo Pellegrini and Pietro Caresano, both traders of construction workers’ protective garments, decided to end their competition to establish a rubber-coated fabric company. Urania was born.

  • 1960s

    The business boomed.

The company became one of the main public suppliers of protective garments for different Italian State agencies (like the military, railroads, and post office), and sellers of rubber-coated fabrics.

  • 1964

From the owners’ desire of expansion, a new business was born NOVURANIA.
The new company specialized in inflatable products, primarily boats.

The vision was clear: bring pioneering ideas to the water through innovative concepts, sophisticated styling, unsurpassed quality, and proven engineering designs.

  • 1970s

Novurania rapidly became an international leader in the inflatable boats market.

The commitment to success and the passion for outstanding products made Novurania stand out from competitors.

  • 1980s

Urania and Novurania merged – the Novurania name was kept.
The American trade was growing fast.

The U.S. market became one of the main buyers of Novurania’s boats.

  • 1983

To meet the needs of our American clients, NOVURANIA OF AMERICA INC. was founded in California.

The company still heavily relied on the Italian manufacturing plant as well as on its research and development department.

  • 1986

From a desire for evolution and innovation, the first fiberglass RIBs were produced and sold in the U.S. market.

The new MX Series became a commercial success.

  • 1989

Novurania of America started an in-house production in California.

The MX 430 was the first Made in the USA RIB.

  • 1990s

To satisfy the mega yacht industry needs, the DL Series – a completely accessorized product with built in components – was launched.

This tender was designed by a world renowned Naval Engineer of Sailing vessels.

The minimalistic and high-performance DL quickly became the first choice for many superyacht owners and shipyards.

  • 1991

The company wanted to affirm its position as leader in the inflatable boat and yacht tender market, not only in the U.S. but all over the word.

To satisfy clients’ high demand, Novurania manufacturing plant was moved to Florida, one of the most developed marine business environments.

  • A NEW ERA – 2000s
  • 2004

The yacht industry was evolving rapidly. Shipyards and yacht owners were increasingly interested in bigger tenders with more seating space and higher performance.

To satisfy the market needs, the Chase Series was born – a very sleek, powerful, and distinctive boat. It became the first choice for many mega yachts all over the world.

  • 2007

The traditional RIB needed a new look! Clients were looking for new modern designs, styles, and improved functionality.

We introduced the LX Series – an evolution of the classic inflatable tender concept.

  • 2013

The Catamaran model – with its innovative hydraulic bow ramp and twin hull design – was introduced in the market.

It rapidly became one of the most sought-after yacht beach landers. The new features made boarding easier and safer.

  • 2019

The Como Series was designed to pay homage to Novurania’ s Italian heritage.

A reinterpretation of our iconic DL Series with a stylish and modern twist.
